Academy of the Baptist Convention of Hong Kong (ABCHK) is a non-profit making Christian education institute under the governance of the Baptist Convention of Hong Kong. The School is also a registered school (Registration No. 550388) with registration status of educational provision under CAP 279 Education Ordinance. ABCHK has been training not only teachers for applying IT in education but also the community through multifarious programmes, ranging from on-the-job training to academic programmes since 2000. ABCHK upholds the Christian virtues that men are born equal and that everyone is endowed with the opportunity to enhance their intellect in accordance with their own distinctive roadmap. It is, therefore, a mission of ABCHK to open the door to high-quality opportunities that enable learning, advancement and development in both pragmatic and spiritual realms, and employment for all.
Promoting IT in Education and e-Learning
ABCHK has been pioneering initiatives in promoting IT in education and e-Learning for the schools in Hong Kong. Thousands of teachers of kindergartens, primary and secondary schools have benefited from the training services in promoting teaching and learning by the use of IT.
Youth Employment and Training Programme (YETP) of the Labour Department
Since 2002, ABCHK has been working with the Labour Department to provide on-the-job and pre-employment training courses to more than 5,000 youngsters to work as technical assistants and teaching assistants at schools through the "YETP" programme. These courses have also been supplying the human resources of technical support to the schools in Hong Kong since then.
Other Languages of Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination
ABCHK has been delivering French and Japanese language courses for Secondary 4 to 6 HKDSE students since 2012. The objective of the courses is to equip the students to sit for the Cambridge Advanced Supplementary Level Examination (Japanese / French) when they are in Secondary 6. Students are supported by the Diversity Learning Grant of EDB for taking the courses.
STEM education
In view of the promotion of STEM education in primary and secondary schools by the Government, ABCHK has been offering a variety of STEM courses, including school-based STEM courses and after-school activities for promoting students’ creativity and problem solving skills. With teacher training and student hands-on workshops offered by ABCHK, the culture of developing STEM thinking in schools can then be developed.
Professional Training Courses
A wide range of professional training courses have been offering to the public by ABCHK. These courses include E-commerce, cultural development and foreign languages. ABCHK aims at delivering appropriate and up-to-date professional training courses in accordance to the needs of the society.
